Two Men Sentenced to Federal Prison for Distribution of Methamphetamine in Boone and Story Counties
Des Moines -- Jay Dolliver Orsack, 44, formerly of Boone, Iowa, was sentenced to 256 months of imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of actual methamphetamine and more that 500 grams of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Sentence was imposed by Senior United States District Judge Ronald E. Longstaff, who also ordered the forfeiture of $3,500 in currency that was seized at the time of Orsack’s arrest.
According to the written plea agreement previously filed in the case, Orsack participated in a conspiracy with others to distribute methamphetamine from approximately July 2010 until Orsack’s arrest on February 16, 2011, when Orsack was found in possession of 147 grams of methamphetamine. The written plea agreement indicates that Orsack admitted that he would usually obtain between 6 and 8 ounces of methamphetamine per week from a source in Des Moines, and that he would distribute methamphetamine in Boone County and Story County.
Another individual who was a member of the conspiracy, Duane Russell Conroy, 37, of Carroll, Iowa, previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than 5 grams of actual methamphetamine, and more than 50 grams of a mixture of substance containing methamphetamine, and was sentenced to 170 months in prison on October 18, 2011, by United States District Judge John A. Jarvey.
These cases were prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa and were investigated by the Central Iowa Drug Task Force, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Boone Police Department.
